Wetland Destruction - What’s the Public Benefit?

Does City of Fruita and Mesa County allow dredging, filling, and covering of wetlands and taking of land from family farms for dense housing development? Why? Is this to benefit developers?

Are they increasing tax and sewer revenue at the expense of the environment, local agriculture, open space, and the Right to Farm?

Where is the Public Benefit?

Why is the Skiff Avenue Canal wetland being destroyed? Is it for a private development’s (52’) Right of Way? The City of Fruita is using Eminent Domain to take agricultural land against the will of private property owners in this same area across from the Iron Wheel development. Private Developers and tax-collecting entities (i.e., City of Fruita and Mesa County) benefit while the public loses wetland and farmland - where’s the benefit to the Community, visitors, family farmers, and future generations?
